Please check out this incredible opportunity!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Mr. Moore and Ms. Vander Velde have been accepted as presenters at a huge international educational technology conference over the summer. We've also been accepted to have a student showcase at the conference.

We're thinking about current and previous students who might be interested in presenting some of their work at this international conference. If you're interested, please let us know. Also, check out the conference website!

Finally, please check out the Edublog Awards! Our current blog and wiki/workspace have been nominated for awards!

LPS has created a blog post about the awards, and you can also check it out on the East Dragon Den.

Thanks for all of your hard work!

Dragon Wing Post

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Here it is: The Last Post.

This year you created a family. Please use this post to keep your family in touch forever. Come here and post anything you want. Let the family know about where you are, what you are doing, and what's going on in your life. Please come back again and again and again. You can also continue to visit the wiki/workspace. If you need help in the future with your writing (or with ANYTHING else) please come here and let us all know about it.

If you use this post/website correctly, you will be able to maintain the strong connections and friendships you've created this year. Looking back, almost any adult will tell you that it is the people in your life that are important.

The things you have, the grades you earn, and all of your accomplishments will not compare to the friends you have, the relationships you build, and the memories you can carry with you forever and ever.

Please use this post to prove us right!

One last thing... Please do not attempt to post personal information like phone numbers and addresses here, because we are not going to publish those things. Sorry!

Love Always,
Mr. Moore and Ms Vander Velde

Student Blogs!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Many of you started your own blog. It seems like you are having trouble getting people to read your posts and comment. It was a bit easier for us, since we had an entire 5th grade full of kids, and we gave assignments on the blog that students had to complete. So, how can you all get readers on your blogs? And how do you get people to comment?

Here are some ideas:
1. Help each other out! Read and comment on each others blogs.

2. Talk to kids at school! You could even hand out little cards with your blog address.

3. Search for other blogs! If you go read other people's blogs and comment, do not mark yourself as anonymous. Use your accout when you comment. Or select the option that allows you to use your first name and url. The url is the address of your blog. Then, when people read your comments, they can click your name and it will be a link to your blog.

4. Make sure to keep posting. Nobody wants to follow a blog that never gets new posts.

5. Make it easy to comment! Give directions, and let folks know that you are interested in comments!

6. Make sure that what you write is always appropriate.

7. Add cool stuff like slideshows and other gadgets to your blog! (Great job on this Richard!)

Here are some blogs I have found from students. If you start one, or if you know about one that I do not have listed, please let me know!

http://panter37.blogspot.com/
http://joineastdragons2009.blogspot.com/
http://sportbros.blogspot.com/
http://letskeepintouchhere.blogspot.com/

If you all choose to follow each blog (at the top of your blogger window, you can choose to follow blogs) then you can always see in your dashboard when your friends add new posts. Then you can comment right away!

Thanks,
Mr. Moore

Middle School

Ladies and Gentlemen,

How is 6th grade going? Use this post to let us all know about your experience with middle school. Please keep things positive. Do not use anyone's name in your comment (especially adults) unless you have their permission! Hope things are going well for everyone! Were sitting at Cal-Wood writing this post. You know we're always thinking about you all, and the Cal-Wood trip is an incredible reminder of how great you all are!

Love,
Mr. Moore and Ms. Vander Velde

Summer fun has ended... :(

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Our summer fun has officially ended. Please continue to use the blog as you see fit. There will not be any more posts from Mr. Moore or Ms. Vander Velde on this blog. (Unless one of you writes something so amazing we just have to comment!)

If you are interested in our new blog or wiki, you can check them out by following the links.

Please continue to post news and great things from your life or your writer's notebook as a comment under the DragonWing post.

Thanks!
Mr. Moore and Ms. Vander Velde

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We're off to the park on August 5th! We'll be going to Cornerstone park again, so you can look at the previous cornerstone park post for directions. We'll stick with the same times (11-2 pm). Bring your swimsuit, lunch, drinks, towel, bike, balls, frisbee, etc. for some fun. Can't wait to see everyone!

This time, it's not a park...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Were planning to go to the FREE movie at Aspen Grove shopping Center this Wednesday night. I've been looking for something on the web, but the Aspen Grove Shopping Center website seems to be down. We're not exactly sure on the time, but we'll post as soon as we know. Bring your friends, family, and a comfy lawn chair or two. More to come on this exciting adventure...

Cornerstone Park Info

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We've had students get dropped of at the park, and we've had kids stay at the park with their parents. Either way is OK, but please make sure that you will have someone there to pick you up at 1 pm. Thanks!
