Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here is your science assignment for today.
Step 1: Read this entire post, then watch the video clips on your own computer
Step 2: Take notes - I would read the questions below, and use them to organize my notes...
Step 3: Work with your task team to create a written response. Your response needs to have input from each team member. Your team will post the response as a comment to this post - as always, it is a good idea to draft and save your comment as a document first! Push your thinking, and show the world what you learned from these videos...
Please consider these questions as you draft your comment:
1. Where is Earth located?
2. What is the Sun?
3. About how many stars are there? How many solar systems? What about galaxies?
4. How are plants, water, stars, and people all similar?
5. How do we determine the age of stars?
6. Is it true that star gazing is like looking into the past? Why or why not?
7. What are the 3 kinds of galaxies? Do you know the different types of stars?
8. If you were the teacher, what 3 important facts would you want your students to know after they saw these video clips?
9. Do you think that there may be life outside of our solar system? Why or why not?
10. What questions do you still have about stars, galaxies, and the universe?
Thanks!
~Mr. Moore

The Solar System and Beyond...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today during science you will be venturing out to DE Science to learn more about the planets and the Solar System. Please log in with a *new* password from your teacher, and then follow the regular path to DE Science. Once you get to DE Science, please choose Space: Our Solar System and Beyond, then choose Intro To Space: Our Solar System and Beyond, then select the second activity called Your Place in Space. Once there, you will notice 2 different activities. The first is called Our Solar System, and the second one is titled What Lies Beyond. Please work through Our Solar System and then What Lies Beyond. Once you have finished, please comment on this post. Below are some guiding questions for your post. Don't forget to read and highlight your article for homework tonight!
1. Compare and contrast the inner and outer planets. What do they have in common, and what is different about them?
2. What do you notice about the gaseous planets? How about the rocky planets?
3. Do you notice any patterns related to the size of the planets?
4. What is in our solar system besides planets?
5. What tools do scientists use to learn more about space?
6. Do you think you would like to go in space? Why/Why not?
7. What did you learn in this activity that was new for you, and what topics from this activity did you already know about?
If you finish your comment, please try to visit this link for a short quiz.
