Emotional Connections

We are learning that strong emotional connections are what make personal narratives great. When a character's emotions or feelings change, we as readers become connected to the characters and to the story. Great authors understand this. They use this idea to make a boring old story into a very exciting personal narrative.

Think about this:
The best readers think like writers, and the best writers think like readers.

Do you agree or disagree? Why?

Dear Mr. Moore,

I agree. I think so because the writer will learn new things and the reader will
learn new things too.

Dear Mr. Moore,

I agree with you when you said readers think like writers, and writers think like readers, because when young writers like us read proffesional writers books, we learn from them how to make our writing better, and it also gives us a little feed back, but in its own way. I also agree with you when you said that writers think like readers because, when writers write, they need to think like readers, and kind of have a readers point of view.

Dear Mr. Moore,

I agree because when I write I think like
a reader. Also today when you read your story I had a connection because my cousin who was five years old died.

I agree with you because when you said readers think like writers and writers think like readers it could help us kids become a better reader and writer at the exact same time. So I do agree with you. Julyssa

Dear Mr. Moore,

I think your website was much cooler when it was black. But it's only my opinion.

Dear Mr. Moore
We agree that good writers think as readers because Patricia Polacco uses that skill.

Julyssa,

I think your idea is great. I agree because I think that it is very hard to separate reading and writing. It would be very difficult to be a great writer who does not read. It would also be very difficult to be a great reader who does not write.

Narah,
I think that the website looked better in black too. However, I think it is easier to use since I made it white. I think it is easier on the eyes. Do you agree, or do you think I should change it back to black?

Diana and Esmeralda,
Thank you for pointing out that Patricia Polacco uses that skill. How do you know that she thinks like a reader when she is a writer?

Chantel,
I can see that you think like a reader when I read your writing. It has been so great this year to see how much you have grown as a writer since third grade! :)
