Wordle

Have you ever heard of Wordle? It's a great tool to analyze text in a fun way. I asked the Wordle Website (http://www.wordle.net) to look at our blog, and it generated this picture. The bigger a word is in the picture, the more that word appeared in our blog. I was a bit curious why "Gentlemen" appears to be larger than "Ladies." I always use these words together...

You can choose all sorts of colors, fonts and layouts. I got this great idea from a high school classroom blog where they used this tool to analyze high level literature. We can use it to analyze our word choice in our writing. Have you ever wanted a cool way to see if you have used a certain word too many times? Now you cann look at your writing through Wordle. You can ask it to examine any website, or text you enter yourself.

I know that it is hard to see some of the words on the picture, but you can click on the picture to see it better.

Dear Mr. Moore

I think that Wordle is going to be a great resource to our class. I think that it is realy cool that they made so that the words that we use the most offen in our posts apear the bigest. I am a little bit confused too because I went back and counted and just on the front page and including the Wordle post there are six ladys and six gentlemen. I think that they might have been counting the names along with the ladys and gentlemen because if they were then it would make sence because Hamaddi name was used and yours and Mrs. V's names were used so they go togeather but no one elses name was used to go with Hamaddi's.
