Current Events

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In this post, I will provide some helpful ideas for your current events assignment.

Please remember the expectations for the assignment. Each week, you will need to collect a current event article that you cut out of a newspaper or magazine. You can also find great ideas online, but you'll need to print out the full article. Remember that the articles must be less than one month old. After you have the article, you are responsible for writing a summary. If you write the summary by hand, it needs to be 2 full pages long. If you type the summary, it needs to be one full page long.

The article is generally due at school on Monday, so look for it over the weekend. This first week is a bit different, since we didn't have school on Monday. The summary is always due on Friday morning.

You can find some great international newspapers by looking through Grolier or by following this link.

You can also use tons of other websites. Here are some ideas to get you started.
1. Rocky Mountain News
2. Denver Post
3. Channel 9 News
4. Channel 4 News
5. BBC News
6. Other Current Events Links - Be sure to check these out!

In your summary, be sure to include Who, What, When, Where, and Why! You can also add a bit of your own opinion on the issue. Get creative! Have some fun with this assignment. Who can find the strangest current event? Who can find the most interesting current event? Who can find the craziest current event? Just make sure you know enough about your event so that you can write the summary...

Dear Mr.Moore,
Right now I was looking for my current event at my grandma's house, and I saw that there where no comments on this blog so I decided to comment. I think that the current events are very helpful, because we can see whats going on in other contries. Take Mexico for example, I heard in the news that there are more than 100 dead people. And to be exact, I there are 230 dead peolpe there. Well I have to go. I have to keep on looking for a current event. Bye.
