Time Travel

What is the main reason authors should use flash backs and flash forwards? Can you think of some examples of this technique in books you have read? How about in your own writing? Before you comment on this post, take some time to find a great example to share in your comment. Please do not share an example that I have already shared in class. Look at your own writing, look in your library books, or look in books around the room. As you consider your example, think to yourself does this flash back or flash forward really help to create a strong emotional connection?

Dear Mr. Moore,

I think that the flashbacks and the flashforwards that were learning is really cool, because we get to time travel, but not using a time machine, but creating or rather weaving a time machine with are words.

Dear Mr.Moore,

I think that the flashbacks and flash fowards are working because we could have alot of stories and we would fix our writing that we have.

Dear Mr. Moore,
When I think of flash forwards and flash backs, I wan't to cry, because alot of people have lost a grandma or grandpa or any relative, and when they have a flash back, to a death or a sad scene that happened, it allows them to see it more clearly, as if it happened just yesterday. Do you know what I mean? And if a person has a flash forward, after that particular flash back, they snap back to the present, and can't see it as clearly as they did when they were traveling in a time machine, which they wove with their words. An example would be that story I wrote about how there was a war in Bosnia, and I was only one when it happened, but my mom told me a storyabout it. You told me and the class that I went from past to future a couple of times, and I totally agree with you. I was just sharing an example. Well, the point I am trying to make, is that I think that flash forwards and flash backs are really very important, because for like 15 seconds or so, it allows the person to visit the loved one or the lovedv ones they lost. What do you think?

Sincerely,
Your talkative student,
Admira

Admira,

I said in class that it would take an incredible post to get a response from me directly. I guess you took that as a personal challenge!

As I have told you before, I think that your posts are very insightful. Do you know what that word means? If not, you can look it up on the new visuwords tool that is on the blog. If you cannot see the results very well, there is a small link that says "open the full version." You can click on that and then look up the word insightful.

I have shared your comments with many other educators and adults I know and they are constantly amazed. Mrs. Duckworth also shared a small moment story with me about you sharing your work. As you know, she was definitely impressed.

Here's my question for you: What motivates you to write and think the way you do?

Admira,
I really liked your comment. The part I liked was when it said we get time travel but not with a time machine.

Dear Mr. Moore,
Well first of all what is that orange squad room thing. Can we click on it? When we talk about flash backs and flash forwards it makes me feel sad because they mostly talk about something sad like if some one died in there family or something like that. When people talk about things happy it makes me happy to. Mr. Moore when well we have our lisence for the laptops I can't wate I am so exited for them. I would really like to know who gives you the ideas for the tags.

Dear Mr. Moore,

I think authors use flash backs so they can describe their feelings.
